Nedan kommer en sammanfattning om metaläget och min syn på jämställdhetsfrågan i Sverige. Det är kopierat från ett svar jag precis gett på reddit och kan därför sakna kontext och så är det på engelska.
Do not listen on the propaganda. We are not misandric. We just have an open debate on the issues where everyone get to be involved. Conservatives think this is equal to feminazi oppression and use amongst other things hearsay about the assange case to prove their proint. The men issues are underdiscussed in media, because of journalists have a bias towards the female issues. But I think this is about to change and equalise in time where the suicides, unemployment and bad shool results amongst lower class men might get better exposure.
In sweden we are the most progressve country in these types of issues. Some conservatives are frightened and as a egalitarian liberal I too might be annoyed by some sexists on the left who disregard equality completely and cannot comprehend which issues is about individual choice and which issues is structural and in need of reformed politics. The feminist party (not represented in parliament) suggest that there is unequal pay, but they can't understand that this is a sacrifice for better good, which is connection with the children, where fathers struggle and suffer from.
I think it is sad that the egalitarian viewpoint is underdiscussed and the most vocal opinions from collectivists from radical feminists on the left to the reactionary "webhaters" on the right dominates the public debate (but not public opinion). It is a problem that we in sweden have laws that ignore discrimination against (white) men, just because they are the least discrimininated group. And in this issue we ahve the far too common problem of clumping culture and politics together. Much of the female issues is about cultural change (attitudes, gender roles etc), which cannot be forced to comply with equality, because such regulation would neccessitate unequal legislation. Many of the male issues is the opposite. They are much needed in politics (such as the systematic underperformance amongst boys of lower social class i school), while some other (such as the view of the male as a perpertrator) is about cultural change.
I will say it again. I think it is really sad that what is from the beginning a issue with its history in egalitarianism has been captured by other forces without a concern about the indivudal and its liberty. So the progressives in this issue is no longer liberals but rather people wanting to gain power through non-meritocratic means and through rushing thorugh social change with brutal force without any chance for the population to adapt. Sometimes flawed theories and complex language is used to argue about the issue. And as expected similar to Newtons third law there is a reaction. The the issue get polarised and overtaken by partisans instead of a constructive debate about issues and how to deal with them and being critical about statistical differences even being an issue at all. Here we have a very divided mens movement in Sweden. Some of the leading intellectuals are honest debaters and stick to egalitarianism and combine it with a focus on the mens issues while not falling into the trap of becoming bitter antifeminists. Then there is the antifeminists, which often consists of young, low educated men, who simply do not understand the egalitarian principles and often is part of the "nethaters" movement and/or the conservative party Sweden Democrats (SD). They spread a skewed world view with many strange ideas, but relevant to this issue is that they falsely claim that there is a systematic discrimination against men and that there is prevalent racism/sexism against white men (which there might be some of, but not at all on the same magnitude as against minorities). They claim that we have an ideology of oikophobia and that people in general are hostiles against Sweden and swedes.
As I said many times before in this reply: I think it is sad to see MRA and FRA battle aginst eachother when they should be allies. Masculinism is the other side of the same coin as feminism just as jin and yang complete eachother. I guess that many people cannot hold multiple thought in the head at the same time and instead go for polemics.
The above might have been more about my general view of the issues at hand than Sweden in particular. But you inspired me to write down my thoughts, so I kept on writing.
